Cole Easdon currently performs the role of Travel Plan Co-ordinator for Phase 2 of the Harford Mews development in Ivybridge, Devon, consisting of 101 dwellings.

This role aims to encourage greater use of sustainable forms of transport and to fulfil the requirements of the approved Travel Plan.

Each dwelling was issued a Travel Information Pack.  These provide detailed information that would be useful to local residents including details of local facilities within close proximity to the development, local walking and cycling routes, a summary of local bus and rail services, information about car sharing and electric vehicles and a list of contacts to help residents make more sustainable travel choices.

Each first-time household was also offered the chance to claim a voucher for a cycle and leisure retailer and a bus pass offering 13 weeks travel from Ivybridge into Plymouth.  These incentives were promoted within Travel Information Packs and further literature issued to each dwelling.

These incentives have proven very popular with residents, with 41% of residents having taken up the offer of a voucher and 19% taking up the offer of a free bus pass.

Our Experts’ Input:

As part of the Travel Plan Co-ordinator role, Cole Easdon runs annual monitoring, with surveys issued to local residents asking for details of their travel patterns and behaviours.

The results of the survey are used to determine whether the development is meeting the targets set in the approved Travel Plan.

This is one of a number of sites that Cole Easdon have been appointed in the role of Travel Plan Co-ordinator.
